Chat with your historian data in plain English
Ask Historian sits next to Tags and Files. Numeric answers name the source .xfc file. Use the Bravura-AI hosted option, your own key (BYOK) with seven cloud providers, or a local model through Ollama that needs no internet connection. The subscription includes 500 AI questions per month.
Your AI assistant, through MCP
MCP clients connect over HTTP to the MCP server that runs inside the app. The connection details and the token are in ~/.bravura-historian/mcp_external_manifest.json. There is no MCP panel in the app window. External MCP is not included in the Free tier.
You see what was sent
Answering a question may send tag names, time ranges, summary statistics and, when the analysis needs them, sample points to the provider you selected. The note under each answer shows exactly what was sent, and the session audit log keeps it.

PlantUnity Historian Explorer is sold as a monthly subscription.

Licensing
PlantUnity Historian Explorer is a monthly subscription. You activate it online in the app.
Bought in the app: it activates by itself. Bought on the website: your activation key is shown once after payment and e-mailed to you; paste it into the app.

The subscription includes 500 AI questions per month, with no carry-over to the next month. When they are used up, you can switch to your own API key (BYOK) or to local models through Ollama at any time.
On the paid subscription the .xfc history data allowance is counted per month. .xfc files are the history archive files written by the DeltaV Continuous Historian. Each .xfc file counts once per monthly period, by its content, when you first export it in that period; exporting it again in the same period is free, and in a new period it counts again. Opening and charting files is always free. If a file is larger than your remaining allowance, the app tells you how much is left. The Free tier’s .xfc history data and tags pool does not renew.

Yes. Raw export to CSV, XLSX and SQLite is separate from Advanced Export; only the resampling and filter controls are part of Advanced Export, which is included in the subscription.
Use the built-in folder picker: click Browse… and select the folder of exports. The app reads them in place.
Yes. Drag-select on the chart (or mouse-wheel) to zoom; use the overview brush below to pan and resize the window. Double-click or Reset zoom restores the full range. The summary strip always reports min / max / mean / count for the visible window.
Your choice. The app stores timestamps in UTC but lets you pick the display zone (Local, UTC, or any IANA zone via a searchable picker in the header). Chart axes and metadata times re-render in the chosen zone, and your choice is remembered.
No. API keys typed into the app are encrypted at rest by Windows and sent only on the request that uses them. They are never written to disk in plaintext and never sit on a Bravura-AI server.
